Can Acupuncture help?

Yes! Clinical research has shown that Acupuncture successfully treats many conditions. Acupuncture has long been recognized as an effective treatment for chronic pain.Acupuncture is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and guides the body in its own natural healing mechanisms.


What are Acupuncture needles?

The needles are thin in size, similar to a strand of hair. The needles are single use and are made of stainless steel. 


Do the needles hurt/What does it feel like?

Acupuncture needles are very thin and the insertion should not be painful. Once the needle is inserted you can feel a dull, achy, heavy, warm, or tingling sensation. Those types of sensations are what we call de qi, which is considered a positive sign. 


What should I expect for my first treatment?

The first session will take 90 minutes in which the practitioner will take 60 minutes to discuss your health history, main health concerns, and do an intake, which includes asking questions regarding your body as a whole system. The practitioner will answer any questions you may have during this time. Afterwards, there will be 30 minutes where you will be able to receive a relaxing and calming acupuncture treatment. 


What should I wear to my appointments?

It’s best to wear loose clothing. You should be able to roll or roll-up pants to above your knees or wear a shirt that folds over your elbows. Practitioners also will need access to your feet, so make sure you wear shoes that can easily be removed.


How often do I need to come in for treatment?

We recommend coming 1x a week for 6-10 weeks, depending on the severity of your condition. Consistency is key. The effects will be cumulative and should start to last longer and longer between treatments. You should feel positive changes within the first 6 treatments. Keep in mind, chronic conditions can take longer than acute conditions to resolve.


Is it safe?

Acupuncture is very safe under the care of a licensed acupuncturist of Traditional Chinese Medicine.  


Is Acupuncture safe during pregnancy?

Yes!  Acupuncture is safe and can aid  to alleviate discomforts associated with pregnancy.
